I implement projects that enhance better health outcomes and the meaningful engagement of gay men, bisexual men, men who have sex with men, and male sex workers (GBMSM/MSW) who are living with HIV. I work to provide better health outcomes and for the reduction of stigma and discrimination against GBMSM/MSW living with HIV. I have also conducted a project with the Center International Health Education and Biosecurity (CIHEB-KENYA) to help promote collaboration in the delivery of comprehensive, evidence-based HIV prevention, care and treatment services. This is for a key population with the aim of creating demand and increasing service uptake among GBMSM/MSW living with HIV in Kisumu East, West, Central and Nyakach Sub-County within Kisumu County.

VELMA MUHONJA

I advocate for quality healthcare services for GBMSM/MSW+ by sensitizing healthcare providers about the services that GBMSM/MSW+ need. I have been able to achieve this by organizing sensitivity training and health talk sessions with healthcare providers. I also advocate for a stigma-free community through community sensitivity forums and dialogue meetings with community members. I am endorsing a study on comprehensive social and legal approaches to HIV and mental health prevention development combating multilevel stigma discrimination for sexual and gender minorities in Kisumu County.
